		<description>Cees Bruggemans the Chief Economist of the First Rand Group makes the point in his book &quot;Change of Pace&quot; that the role of unions is not to create jobs.  Unions raison d&#039;etre is to represent those who are employed often at the expense of those who aren&#039;t.  It is therefore strange that the union activity has been around job creation and not job losses.  When unions militate for job creation they are representing a constituency that is not in fact their own.  As soon as those jobs are created the role of the union is to ensure that as many of their currently employed members enjoy the benefits first with the dregs handed off to the non-employed non-union members of society.

So...not only do we have the wrong questions being asked, but we also have the wrong people doing the questioning.  When the answers eventually come, the ones who thought they were going to finally benefit, don&#039;t.</description>
