Opportunity

July 19, 2005 neo General No Comments

Let the dreams of today determine the opportunities of tomorrowRina Stander said that if you have a stirring about something that needs to be done and you are not doing it, you are commiting a sin against humanity.

When I heard this statement it really shook me up because in the world today we are so caught up in the rat race, being successful, especially the X-generation who has been presented with so much opportunity (Entrepreneurship) everybody wants to invest in the coming bright young thing. The young person doesn’t want to leave this opportunity because it may never present itself again, but is it really a stirring within them.

And this is why I sometimes have a problem with trends, if they will make people lose their identy, people lose their innovativenes in the process, but if they can keep their identity in the trend and make it like wearing a different hat, well then go on and do humanity justice.

A report under this title appeared in the New York Times on 12 March 2010. It’s a great example of a few things, but especially of the power of social media, and the fact that innovation (and competition) can come from anywhere these days.

Twitter 10 Billion – quality not quantity

In the last few hours the 10 billionth tweet was tweeted on Twitter. As one would imagine there was all kinds of hype and excitement, as Tweeps with the necesary skills attempted to predict the time it would happen, and I imagine even be ‘the one’?
My last tweet was 9999989724. Wild. Will be at 10 [...]
