That was an excellent article by Keith! I'd like to add that very few company/corporate leaders recognize the one thing not found on the balance sheet: The employee and the worth of any given employee. I'm not talking about pay, per se, I'm talking about what an employee can contribute if he is encouraged to do so. Or even if the company leaders will listen. I've personally worked for companies where none of my suggestions were acknowleded or implemented. There was no, whatsoever. I'm not saying that's the single reason why they went under, but...

No, no, no ... you rock!

Was watching Noeleen on 3Talk yesterday (she usually bugs me, but this time the topic got me) and she was talking about X-factor with Randall (Idols) and Lee-Ann Liebenberg (hottie!) and the consensus was that the X-factor comes naturally to a person ... I reckon the X is important aspect of talent.

Certification was needed once and did have an integral place in recruitment. Now days though, you're right, it is outdated as the certification is no gaurantee of skills like it used to be.

My gut says talent is something that's inherent in us, but I think that the right thing to do is to go shopping for: talent (however it's currently defined) + attitude,
or even just attitude, before we go looking for certification.

Certification is a clever tool designed by a dated education system to be used daily by lazy HR personnel, with the purpose of keeping that same dated education system in constant demand (I've given this some thought)...!

PS. Thanks loads for the links, you rock.
