Watson Wyatt Worldwide (NYSE:WW) is a global human capital and financial management consulting firm. The firm specializes in employee benefits, human capital strategies, technology solutions, and insurance and financial services and has 6,000 associates in 30 countries. They have released a summary of their top ten HR trends for 2006. Worth a quick read at their website, here.

The focus is mainly on compensation issues. These are strongly linked to talent, and retention.

    They’ve also looked strongly at issues that will affect boomers who are heading towards retirement. We must not fall into the trap, I know I do, of thinking talent is only young talent.

    Great point!

    I think another trap is not realizing talent can be anywhere. There was a note written somewhere that I read just a little while ago, about the guy who figured out longtitudes. People were trying to use the stars; who knew a furniture maker would figure it out using a clock?

    The little guy on the floor of a warehouse or on a production line can have great ideas. And its not just solutions. I recently wrote that sometimes recognizing, defining, and articulating a problem is as important as coming up with a solution.
